About JPG to PNG
JPG to PNG converts JPEG photos into PNG files, which is useful when you need lossless editing rounds, transparency for overlays, or compatibility with tools that dislike JPEG artifacts. Web designers export UI slices; scientists preserve diagrams for publications that reject lossy formats; archivists store intermediate masters before layering text in graphics apps.
JPEG’s compression throws away information permanently; converting JPG to PNG does not recover lost detail—it simply wraps existing pixels in a PNG container. File sizes often grow because PNG cannot assume photographic noise is disposable. Start from the highest-quality JPEG you have before converting.
Pair with Remove Background when you plan to cut out subjects afterward, or Image Resizer when platforms demand exact pixel counts. Image to PDF still accepts PNG if you later need a PDF packet.
Do not expect smaller files automatically—measure bytes after conversion. For massive photo libraries, PNG may be the wrong target; JPEG or modern formats like WebP (if you add support elsewhere) might serve better. Respect copyright on source images, and avoid uploading private photos unless you accept online processing risks.
