About Image OCR — Text detection
Image OCR runs optical character recognition on a single JPG or PNG—photos of receipts, whiteboards, book pages, shipping labels, or screenshots—so you get editable, copyable text without retyping. It complements PDF OCR when your source is not yet a PDF: snap a picture, upload here, and paste the text into email, spreadsheets, or notes.
Quality follows the usual OCR rules: sharp focus, even lighting, and text large enough in the frame beat dark, blurry, or heavily skewed shots. Handwriting is much harder than printed type; expect best results on machine-printed labels and documents. You can set the OCR language code (for example eng) so Tesseract uses the right character model.
This path uses Tesseract on the server; the host must have the binary installed and on PATH, same as PDF OCR. Respect the upload size limit on the form. After extraction, try Case Converter or Word Counter on the pasted text if you are cleaning up quotes or drafts.
Only process images you are allowed to digitize. IDs, prescriptions, and financial paperwork may belong offline under your policy. OCR output can contain errors—always verify amounts, names, and legal wording before relying on it.
